Your thoughts create your reality, and your actions define your character.

Every day that we wake up is a true blessing on this earth. However, for many of us, it is sometimes hard to remember that. Each action we take will have an opposite and equal reaction as we have been taught as young kids. Our actions will always have consequences, some good and some bad. The most important thing is that we act with intention and mindfulness.

The phenomenon surrounding the concept of intention is a concept that deeply interests me. I have learnt that my thoughts and actions are highly influential to my circumstances. If there is a goal I wish to achieve, nothing will happen if I don't take the action. If nothing changes, nothing changes. It is often easy to fall into repetitive routines as human beings. Waking up at a certain time, working a fixed timetable, walking the dog at the same time each day. Don't get me wrong, I see value in routine, but I am also aware that becoming rigid in our routines can hold us back from growth and development. For example, if I set a goal of improving my fitness and my main intention is to go for a 5km run 4 times a week, I must take action to implement that into my routine. It is easy to make excuses such as "I don't have time' but there is no progression in excuses. We all have the ability to make time for things that matter to us. Similarly, for the scenario of romantic relationships, no one is ever too busy to call or text back. Most of the time, they simply aren't that into you, and that is perfectly okay. We cannot make time for everything, but we certainly can for what matters to us. For me, I love to work out my body, it makes me feel healthy and happy. But I also work full-time and study full-time. It suits me best to take an hour out of my day every day to either go to a gym class or go for a run, sometimes even a long walk will do. This hour of my day is a non-negotiable, it takes up 1/24th of my entire day and contributes greatly to my success and joyfulness.

Your goal may be different, perhaps you want to do well in your university assignment, or you want to start a side business. Well, if you aren't taking any action towards your goal, it is plainly delusion. Whatever is important to you in this life you must put time, energy and work into it. I love the quote that goes something like this; The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome. In order to change any aspect of your life, you must first be willing to, and secondly you must take action. There is no one out there that can do things for you in this regard, you must take control of your life. If you see someone who is addicted to smoking, you can make as many comments as possible on how bad it is for them, but if they do not want to stop, they will not. You can tell your friends how much you want to go on a date with the cute boy you know from university, but if he doesn't want to take you on one, he won't. There will always be aligned forces for you out there, never try and force something that doesn't fit. You are in control of much of your happiness in this life, not all, but most. Life is 20% what happens to you, and 80% how you react to it. You can either be a victim of your own life, or the hero of your fairytale.

Actions speak far louder than words ever will. It is easy to tell people your goals and write them down, but to achieve them is the part that takes hard work. Everyone has the ability to achieve their goals if they want it enough. Hard work goes a long way, and perseverance will guide you into divine action. motivation is a myth, discipline and consistency will take you where you wish to be. Aim not to control or force others to act how you think they should and instead focus on your goals and dreams. Your thoughts and in turn words create your reality over time. Speaking gratitude and affirmations to yourself each day will reinforce positive self-beliefs and good energy.

What you think you become.

What you feel, you attract.

What you imagine, you create.

-Buddha

Just remember, you must wake up each day and believe in yourself, act with love and kindness, and be prepared to take action towards your goals ALWAYS. There is only one you, and that is what makes you special.
